The High Court has directed the authorities concerned to pay a compensation amounting to Tk5 lakh within a month to family of the child, born during a road accident in Trishal, Mymensingh.
A High Court Division Bench comprising of Justice Khizir Ahmed Chowdhury and Justice Sardar Md Rashed Jahangir passed the order asking the Trustee Board to compensate the victims of the accident.
Lawyer Rafiqul Islam stood on behalf of the board of trustees in the court. Barrister Syed Mahsib Hossain appeared for the writ while Deputy Attorney General Pratikar Chakma appeared on behalf of the state.
On Thursday, the board of trustees applied for a period of three months to pay Tk5 lakh to the child’s family.
On July 19, the High Court ordered the formation of a committee to look after the child. The Ministry of Social Welfare has been asked to form this committee within the next three months.
The court also issued a ruling asking why the child and his family would not be given adequate compensation. At the same time, the court asked the relevant authorities to continue the necessary treatment of the child.
A writ was filed with the High Court on Saturday, asking the state to bear all the expenses of the infant who survived the death of his parents and sister in a road accident in Trishal, Mymensingh.
The writ sought direction to form a committee to bear all the expenses of the child for 18 years and compensate the family.
