Puja mandap violence: Eight including two councilors sent to jail in Comilla

A total of eight people, including two councilors, were sent to jail in a case filed over the violence triggered by placing the Holy Quran at Nanua Dighir Par puja mandap in Comilla.

Judge Atabullah of Comilla District and Sessions Court denied their bail plea and ordered them to be sent to jail on Tuesday, said Comilla Court police Inspector Mujibur Rahman.

Earlier on October 13, 2021, the eight accused were granted bail by the High Court.

They are– Md Ekram Hossain, councilor of ward 8; Kazi Golam Kibria, councilor of ward 1; Md Mosharrof Hossain, former councilor of ward 8; Amir Hossain Farazi, Md Russell, Mofizul Islam, Mannan Mia, and Nazir Ahmed.

Public Prosecutor Advocate Zahirul Islam Selim represented the state while Advocate Badiul Alam Sujan represented the accused.
