Rajin Murder: 17 teenagers get 7 years of jail in Khulna

The convicts murdered Rajin because he protested against stalking and harassment, say police

A Khulna court has sentenced 17 teenagers of a teen gang to seven years jail, for their involvement in the murder of Khulna schoolboy Fahmid Tanvir Razin in 2018.

Judge A Salam Khan of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal handed down the verdict on Monday.

The convicts are BM Majib Hasan Royal, Md Manjurul Islam alias Sabbir Hawlader, 16, Md Shahriar Turjo, 16, Md Ryan Sheikh Refat, 12, Md Fahim Islam. Moni, 14, Md Sunny Islam Apan, 13, Md Jisan Khan, 18, Tarin Hasan Rizvi, 13, Md Shakib Khan Shimul, 17, Antar Kumar Das, 15, Md Hakim, 17, Saikat, 16, Sheikh Shakib, 17, Md Asif Pranto Alif, 15, Sheikh Tamim, 16, Md Sakran Saleh alias Mitul,12, Mostafizur Rahman Naeem, 14.

They are members of a teen gang named TPC Group.

According to the case statement, Rajin used to protest when some members of the teen gang stalked and harassed one of his female friends. 

This created enmity between Razin and the stalkers. 

On January 20, 2018, the teen gang members called Razin to Khulna Public College ground and started assaulting him. At one point, they stabbed Razin in the chest.

Razin died due to excessive bleeding from his wound.

The victim’s father Jahangir Alam lodged a case against 10 people, naming six people of the gang, with Khalishpur police station.

The investigation officer of the case, Mizanur Rahman filed a chargesheet to the court, naming 17 teenagers on January 16, 2018.

The court denied their bail petition and sent them to jail on May 17 of the same year.
