A Rangpur court on Monday sentenced a man to life imprisonment in a case filed over violating his daughter in Pirganj Upazila of Rangpur in 2018.
Rangpur Woman and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal M Ali Ahmed handed down the judgment.
The convict is identified as Abdul Malek, 49, of Fatehpur Fakira village.
According to the prosecution, Malek violated his sixth-grader daughter at his house on August 4, 2018.
A few days later, on August 14, his wife lodged a complaint against him with the local police station.
On January 12, 2019, police submitted a charge sheet against Malek. Following the examination of records and witnesses, the court passed the order three years after the incident.
