The High Court will deliver its verdict next month on the death references and appeals filed by the killers of Old Dhaka tailor Biswajit Das.
Justice Md Ruhul Quddus and Justice Bhishmadev Chakrabortty's bench fixed August 6 for the verdict after concluding hearing on the petitions on Monday.
A Dhaka court sentenced eight Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists to death and 13 others to life imprisonment on December 18, 2013 for killing Biswajit.
Eight of the convicts are in jail while 13 others are on the run.
The convicts moved the High Court against the verdict while the death references were sent to the court for approval. The court held hearings on them simultaneously.
Ruling Awami League student front Chhatra League activists beat and hacked Biswajit, 24, in broad daylight in presence of police on December 9, 2012 soon after pro-opposition lawyers brought out a procession in support of a countrywide shutdown.
Chhatra League activists claimed they had mistaken Biswajit for an opposition activist.
The incident near Bahadur Shah Park in Old Dhaka was caught on camera and triggered a massive outpouring of anger across Bangladesh.
