3 testify in graft case against ex-OC Pradeep, his wife

Three people testified in a graft case filed against former OC of Teknaf police Pradeep Kumar Das and his wife Chumki Karan on Monday.

Judge Munshi Abdul Majid of the Chittagong Divisional Special Judge's Court recorded the statements of three tax officers.

Earlier, Pradeep Das was brought to Chittagong court under tight security.

ACC lawyer Mahmudul Haque confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune. “More witnesses will testify at the court on Thursday,” he added.

The testimonies were recorded after the High Court rejected the discharge petition filed by Pradeep.

According to the charge sheet, Chumki owns a six-storey building at Patharghata and a house in Sholashahar area of Chittagong, 45 ounces of gold, a car, a microbus, a bank account and a flat in Cox's Bazar.

Meanwhile, Pradeep’s legal and acceptable income is Tk24,466,234, compared to his immovable and moveable assets of Tk48,064,651. The ACC has found proof of acquisition of the remaining Tk23,598,417 of illegal assets.
