Police have arrested a businessman in Moulvibazar for posting obscene writings and pictures slandering Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on Facebook.
A betel leaf vendor, Abdul Mumin, 40, was arrested from Notunbazar area of Srimangal at 10:30pm on Tuesday and produced before a court on Wednesday afternoon. The court sent him to jail pending a police report in the case.
Mumin is also a member of the executive committee of the Srimangal Business Owners' Association.

Sub-Inspector of Srimangal police station Yusuf filed the case under the Digital Security Act on Tuesday night.
According to the case, Mumin posted offensive remarks along with pictures of the heads of state on his personal Facebook account on March 28. Dhaka Tribune could not confirm his political affiliation.
Modi arrived in Dhaka on March 26 on a two-day visit to attend the celebrations of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of the country’s independence.
At that time, student groups and Islamist parties staged demonstrations in Dhaka's Motijheel, Baitul Mokarram and Dhaka University areas, Brahmanbaria, Hathazari among other places for several days protesting Modi's visit accusing him of ill-treatment of the Muslims in India.
They clashed with the police and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) ruling party activists and the police, resulting in 10 deaths and injuries to over 100 others.
