A Dhaka court has granted police seven days to interrogate realtor Nasir U Mahmood and businessman Tuhin Siddique Omi in a narcotics case, a day after they were arrested for their alleged involvement in a rape and murder attempt on actress Pori Moni.
Three other women accused -- Nazma Amin Brishti, 24, Lipi Akter, 18, and Sumi Akter, 19 -- have also been remanded for three days in the same case filed at the Airport police station.
Metropolitan Magistrate Nivana Khair Jessi on Tuesday passed the orders after Udoy Kumar Mondal, an inspector of the Detective Branch (DB) of police and the case investigation officer, produced them before the court.
All five were arrested on Monday from the capital's Uttara area after Dhallywood heartthrob Pori Moni started a case against six people, including Nasir and Omi, at Savar police station over the rape and murder attempt charges.
Earlier on Tuesday, a Dhaka court fixed July 8 for police to submit their probe report in that case.
In the remand prayer Tuesday, Inspector Udoy had sought 10 days from the court to interrogate the five to properly investigate and find out the sources of narcotics recovered from them.
The case under the Narcotics Control Act against the five was filed early Tuesday some 1,000 yaba pills, alongside alcoholic beverages, were seized from them at the time of their arrest.

Opposing the remand prayers, defence lawyers had submitted two separate petitions seeking bail for their clients and a remand rejection order. But the court rejected the petitions.
Plaintiff Manik Kumar Shikder, a sub-inspector of DB's Gulshan zonal team, was also present at the court during the hearing.
On Sunday, actress Pori Moni, whose real name is Shamsun Nahar Smriti, had posted on her Facebook page about the assault, sought Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's help and demanded justice.
Later that night, the actress at a press conference revealed the identity of the perpetrators who allegedly assaulted and attempted to rape her.
She claimed that Nasir, former president of Uttara Club Limited, and Omi tried to rape and murder her at the Dhaka Boat Club in Uttara on the night of June 8.
As the news went viral, drawing strong reactions from all quarters, the actress on Monday afternoon filed the case with Savar police.
Pori Moni, who joined the film industry in 2015, has played the lead female role in over 20 movies.
Best known for her work in Giasuddin Selim's "Swapnojaal" (2018), the actress is also set to play Pritilata in the upcoming biopic "Pritilata Waddedar."
Last year, Forbes magazine had named the actress as one of 100 Digital Stars of Asia.
