The case was filed at Savar police station on Monday
A Dhaka court has fixed July 8 for police to submit their probe report in a case filed against realtor Nasir U Mahmood and five others over their alleged attempt to rape and murder Dhallywood actress Pori Moni.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Kamrun Naher on Tuesday passed the order, after accepting the first investigation report (FIR) of the case filed at Savar police station on Monday.
On Sunday, Pori Moni, whose real name is Shamsun Nahar Smriti, had posted on her Facebook page first about the incident, seeking Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's help and demanding justice.
Later that night, the actress at a press conference revealed the identity of the perpetrators who allegedly assaulted and attempted to rape her at Dhaka Boat Club in Uttara on June 8.
She claimed that Nasir, former president of Uttara Club Limited, and another businessman named Tuhin Siddique Omi tried to rape and murder her at the boat club.
On Monday afternoon, the Dhallywood star filed the case as the news went viral, drawing strong reactions from all quarters.
Police arrested Nasir, Omi and three women from the capital’s Uttara area later in the day.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Pori Moni also wanted the accused to be served with exemplary punishment so that such people dare not torture or insult another woman in any way.
She also expressed her gratitude to the prime minister, law enforcement agencies, journalists, her colleagues, and the countrymen who have been by her side in this difficult time.
Meanwhile, another Dhaka court on Tuesday granted police seven days to interrogate Nasir and Omi in a narcotics case, a day after they were arrested in the case Pori Moni started.
The three women arrestees were also remanded for three days in the case filed at the Airport police station early Tuesday.
Pori Moni, who joined the film industry in 2015, has played the lead female role in over 20 movies.
Best known for her work in Giasuddin Selim's "Swapnojaal" (2018), the actress is also set to play Pritilata in the upcoming biopic "Pritilata Waddedar."
Last year, Forbes magazine had named the actress as one of 100 Digital Stars of Asia.
