Hefazat leaders Habibi, Kashemi, Saifullah placed on 3-day remand

A Dhaka court has granted three-day remand to Hefazat-e-Islam Central Joint Secretary General Allama Khalid Saifullah Ayubi, its Dhaka unit Joint General Secretary Mufti Faisal Mahmud Habibi, and another leader of the radical Islamist group Hafez Mohammad Mufti Habibullah Mahmud Kashemi.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim granted three-day remand each after they were produced before the court on Thursday and investigating officer of the case filed a petition for placing them on ten-day remand in connection with the case filed over mayhem at Baitul Mokaram Mosque.

On April 28, Mufti Faisal Mahmud Habibi was arrested from Demra in the capital and Hafez Mohammad Habibullah Mahmud Kashemi was arrested from Wasa junction in Bhatara police station area of Dhaka.

On April 23, Dhaka court placed Khaled Saifullah Ayubi on five-day remand in a case lodged over the Islamist group’s massive anarchy in the capital’s Paltan and adjacent areas in 2013.
