Charge framing in Banani rape case July 13

A Dhaka court has fixed July 13 for framing the charges against five accused in the Banani rape case. Dhaka’s Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal 2 Judge Md Saiful Azam fixed the new date on Sunday, in response to a time petition. Earlier in the day, accused Nayeem Ashraf’s lawyer Khairul Islam Liton filed a time petition with the court.

Two female university students filed a case with Banani police on May 6, alleging that they were raped at the Raintree Hotel on the night of March 28 by Shafat Ahmed, Nayem and Sadman Sakif while Shafat’s driver Billal Hossain recorded the incident and Rahmat Ali held the victims at gun point. All of the accused have given confessional statements before the court.
