A Dhaka court has recorded testimony of Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Abu Siddique and two others, in a case filed on the rape of a Dhaka University student in the city's Kurmitola area.
Judge Begum Mosammat Quamrunnahar of the seventh tribunal for Prevention of Women and Children Repression recorded the statements of the three witnesses -- DB inspector and investigation officer of the case Abu Siddique, inspector Md.Moniruzzaman of Cantonment police station, and Rapid action Battalion (RAB) official Md Showkat -- in the case.
After deposition of the witnesses, defence lawyer Robiul Islam cross-examined them. Later, the court fixed November 12 for placing the self-defence statement of the lone accused, Md Mojnu in the case.
Mojnu was produced before the court and was present during the hearing.

Earlier on January 5, a second year student of Dhaka University was raped in Kurmitola after she mistakenly got off a bus there around 7pm on her way to a friend's house at Joar Sahara, also known as Shewra.
The incident caused shockwaves and triggered massive protests by students and humanitarian organizations across the country.
The rape survivor's father filed a case with Cantonment police station over the incident, which was transferred to the DB police on January 6.
On January 8, the RAB arrested Mojnu in the capital's Shewra rail crossing area. He gave a statement before a Dhaka court confessing his involvement in the crime on January 16.
On March 16, the DB submitted the charge sheet before a court in Dhaka against the lone accused in the case.
