A Dhaka court on Friday recorded the statement of the Dhaka University (DU) student who was raped on the side of Airport Road at Dhaka’s Kurmitola area on Sunday.
The survivor’s statement was recorded under Section-22 of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2000 with Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Yeasmin Ara after investigative officer produced the second-year DU student before the court last afternoon, confirmed court sources.

Police and the victim’s fellow classmates said the girl left the campus on a DU bus for her friend's house at Joar Sahara, also known as, Shewra and mistakenly got off at Kurmitola around 7pm on Sunday.
An unknown man gagged her from behind and took her to an isolated place and raped and tortured her repeatedly for two hours, they said.
The rape incident sent shockwaves and triggered demonstrations of students and humanitarian organizations across the country from Monday morning when her father lodged a case in this connection.
Earlier on Wednesday, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) apprehended the suspect, Md Monju, 30, from the Shewra rail crossing area in Dhaka.
In a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, RAB said the accused, during primary interrogation, admitted to being a serial sex offender, and confessed to raping the Dhaka University student.
The DU student also identified him as the culprit, RAB said.
