New attorney general vows to carry out responsibilities

He said he would try to prevent any kind of corruption as the attorney general and president of the Supreme Court Bar Association

As the chief legal officer of the state, newly appointed Attorney General (AG) AM Amin Uddin on Sunday expressed his firm commitment to carrying out0 his responsibilities properly.

“I will try to carry out state responsibility properly and maintain the level of the AG office and the post, which Mahbubey Alam held with efficiency and honesty,” the new attorney general said while addressing journalists on his first working day at the AG office in Dhaka.

Seeking cooperation from the media to stop irregularities and corruption, Amin Uddin said: “I want your cooperation. I request you, if you can help us by giving information, it will be much easier to stop corruption”.

He said he would try to prevent any kind of corruption as the attorney general and president of the Supreme Court Bar Association.

Terming the backlog of cases as a big challenge, the new attorney general said: “Many cases remain pending, creating a backlog in our country. My prime challenge is to curb the backlog in the judiciary.”

Noting that he joined the law profession alongside his senior lawyer Mahbubey Alam, who breathed his last on September 27 at the age of 72, Amin Uddin urged all to pray for salvation of the departed soul of the former attorney general.

Senior Supreme Court lawyer and Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President AM Amin Uddin was appointed as the new attorney general of Bangladesh on Thursday.
