A Dhaka court has framed charges against Regent Hospital owner Mohammad Shahed in a case filed against him under the Arms Act with Uttara police station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court Judge KM Imrul Kayes framed the charges after rejecting discharge petitions filed by the accused in the case on Thursday.
After the charge framing, the court fixed September 10 for recording testimony of prosecution witnesses in the case.
During the hearing, police produce him before the court.
Earlier on August 19, the same court took the charge sheet into cognizance in the case.
The Rapid Action Battalion arrested Shahed on July 16 when he was reportedly trying to flee to India by a boat.
He has since been implicated in more than 20 cases, with charges ranging from fraudulence, including fake Covid-19 test reports issued by Regent Hospital, to possession of illegal arms and involvement in the narcotics trade.
On July 19, the Detective Branch found Shahed's car in front of a house in Sector-11, in the city's Uttara. They seized a loaded pistol with from the car and later a case under the Arms Act was filed with the Uttara West Police Station.
On July 30, investigators submitted the chargesheet, naming 14 witnesses in the case.
