The Supreme Court (SC) has asked all officials of the subordinate courts across Bangladesh to not attend work if they are pregnant or feel sick.
A fresh circular, signed by the Registrar General of Supreme Court Md Ali Akbar, was sent to media on Sunday night.
The circular said the officers and employees of the subordinate courts (both civil and criminal) and tribunals who are vulnerable, sick or pregnant must refrain from going to work physically and might also avoid joining the virtual court in applicable condition.
Earlier on May 10, the chief justice issued directives and a user manual in line with the ordinance, issued by President Md Abdul Hamid on May 9, allowing regular court proceedings to be conducted virtually amidst Covid-19 lockdowns in Bangladesh.
Regular activities of courts across the country, including the Appellate Division and the High Court Division of the Supreme Court, have remained closed since March 26 when the government first declared the general holidays.
