Two university students, who were allegedly raped at gunpoint at a Banani hotel, have given statements before a Dhaka court.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nurun Nahar Yesmin recorded the statements on Thursday, under Section 22 of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act 2000.
Earlier in the day, Investigation Officer Ismat Ara Annie, inspector of the Victim Support Centre, produced them before the court.
On Wednesday, the women described the incident that took place at Raintree Hotel after a birthday party on March 28 before the investigator and other officials.
On May 6, a rape case was filed with Banani police against Shafaat Ahmed, 26, Nayeem Ashraf, 30, Sadman Sakif, 24, drive Billal, 26, and bodyguard Abul Kalam Azad.
According to the case file, Shafaat, the son of Dildar Ahmed, one of the owners of Apan Jewellers, and his friend Nayeem allegedly raped the two university students while Shafaat’s bodyguard held the girls at gunpoint and Shafaat’s driver Billal, 26, videotaped the incident.
None of the accused have been arrested so far.

Police on Tuesday went to Shafaat's house only to find that he had gone into hiding and his passport was missing three days after the rape case was filed.
On Monday, Shafaat and three other men – presumably Nayeem, Shadman and driver Billal – were spotted at the Regent Park Resort in Thakurbari Thillapara in Sylhet.
They were denied a room at the resort that they tried to rent for Tk20,000 as they produced no forms of identification and were not carrying any bags.
They quickly left the resort when the on-duty officials at the resort recongnised them.
