Dr Yunus sued for violating labour rules

The Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments has filed a case against Grameen Communications Chairman Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus for allegedly violating rules under the labour law.

The department's Inspector Tariqul Islam filed the case against Yunus and three others with Dhaka 3rd Labour Court on January 5, Tariqul confirmed on Thursday.

The other accused in the case are Grameen Communications Managing Director Naznin Sultana, Director Abdul Hye Khan and General Manager Gowri Sankar, reports BSS.

According to the case statement, Inspector Tariqul Islam visited Grameen Communications office on October 10, 2019 and found irregularities and violation of labour rules.

The case was filed under the Bangladesh Labour Act (amendment) 2013.
