Indictment hearing against Khaleda in religious incitement case Aug 27

Proceedings of 12 more cases against the BNP chairperson are ongoing

A Dhaka court has set August 27 to hold hearing on charge framing, in a case lodged against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, over religious incitement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Nur passed the order on Sunday, confirmed Azmal Hossain Roni, bench-clerk of the court concerned.

On July 29, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ziaur Rahman transferred the case from his court, as it was ready for trial.

Jananetri Parishad President AB Siddiqui filed the case against Khaleda for allegedly making religious incitement, and trying to create conflict among people of different classes, at a function at Dhaka's Engineers Institution, on October 14, 2014.

Apart from this case, proceedings of 12 more cases against the BNP chairperson are ongoing at the makeshift court raised at the newly constructed building in front of Keraniganj Central Jail.
