The High Court has stayed the suspension order of Narayanganj’s Sonargaon Upazila Chairman Ajharul Islam Mannan for next six months.
The bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman passed the order Thursday afternoon, responding to a writ petition filed by the upazila chairman.
Mannan’s lawyer HM Shanjid Siddique confirmed this to the Dhaka Tribune.
The LGRD Ministry issued the suspension order on March 8.
He had been suspended earlier on February 16 last year after a court accepted charge sheet against him in two cases filed for vandalising vehicles and obstructing police in discharging their duties in 2015.
He won the legal battle in January when the High Court ruled in his favour and reinstated his chairmanship.
