The High Court has stayed the suspension order of Meherpur’s Mujibnagar Upazila Chairman Amirul Islam and Vice-Chairman Jarjis Hossain.
The bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman passed the order Wednesday morning, after hearing two writ petitions filled by Amirul and Jarjis.
Amirul is affiliated with the BNP while Jarjis is a leader of the Jamaat-e-Islami.
The court also asked the government to explain in four weeks as to why the suspension orders should be declared illegal.
On April 3, the LGRD Ministry issued their suspension order after a court accepted charge sheet against them in a case filed with Mujibnagar police station over subversive activities in 2013.
