6 JMB men sentenced to 10 years in jail

The court also fined them Tk10,000 each. Failure to pay the fine will result in additional six months in jail

A Chapainawabganj court, on Sunday, convicted six members of banned militant outfit Jamaatul-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), and sentenced them to 10 years of imprisonment each, resulting from two cases filed under the Explosive Substances Act.

The convicted JMB men are Harun, Suman, Robi, Ramjan, Abdullah, and Firoz.

The court also fined them Tk10,000 each. Failure to pay the fine will result in additional six months in jail.

According to the prosecution, a special team of police arrested Robi from his Bholahat house on June 17, 2009. Based on information provided by him, police arrested the rest, and recovered one shooter gun, three bullets, and Jihadi books.

Later, Sub-Inspector Mizanur Rahman filed two separate cases under the Explosive Substances Act in 2009.
