A Gaibandha court has sentenced former Jatiya Party (JaPa) MP Abdul Kader Khan to life imprisonment in an arms case filed over the murder of Gaibandha 1 MP Monjurul Islam Liton.
on Tuesday, District and Sessions Judge Dilip Kumar Bhowmik delivered the judgment and sent the former MP to prison for possessing illegal weapons and ammunition after examining records and witnesses.
Liton was shot at his home by unidentified assailants in Sundarganj upazila on December 31, 2016.
He was taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Police arrested Abdul Kader Khan—former Jatiya Party MP from Gaibandha 1 constituency—from his Bogra home on February 21, 2017.
Soon after, he confessed before the court under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
The police raided Kader's home in the district's Sundarganj upazila, and recovered a pistol, a magazine, and six bullets
