A Dhaka court has sentenced a man to 10-year imprisonment in a gold smuggling case.
Dhaka 3rd Additional Metropolitan Session Judge Robiul Alam passed the order on Monday in presence of the accused, Habibur Rahman, 26, reports BSS.
The court also fined him Tk10,000.
According to the case documents, Habibur was detained on February 13, 2017, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka with 35 gold bars, weighing 3.5kg.
A case was filed against him with the airport police station in this regard.
Police filed a charge sheet against Habibur on April 17, 2017.
On July 24, 2017, the court framed charges against him, and finally, came up with a judgment after examining seven out of 13 prosecution witnesses in the case.
