A Comilla court has fixed May 15 for the hearing on confiscation of the properties of 26 charge-sheeted accused, including BNP chief Khaleda Zia in an arson case lodged under the Special Powers Act in Comilla in 2015.

Comilla Additional District and Session Judge, Mohammad Ali Akbar, gave the order on Monday, responding to an application filed by Khaleda Zia’s lawyer seeking more time.

Khaleda Zia is now on High Court bail in the case, said her lawyer, Advocate Abu Zafar.

On January 25, 2015, a covered van was set on fire at Haiderpool of Chauddagram municipality on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.

The following day, Sub-inspector Nuruzzaman of Chauddagram police station filed a case against the BNP Chairperson and 31 of the party’s other leaders and activists, over the incident.
