A court in Cox’s Bazar district on Monday sent five officials of Biman Bangladesh Airlines to jail in a case filed on January 6 over plundering money.
According to sources, they were produced before the court of District and Session Judge Khandaker Hasan Muhammad Firoz early Monday with a bail prayer.
The court rejected the bail petitions of the five Biman officials and sent them to jail, said sources.
According to the prosecution, the officials misappropriated Tk 60.50 lakh when they were given the responsibility to purchase a 300 KVA generator for Cox's Bazar Airport in fiscal year 2014-15 .
After a lengthy investigation, Chittagong Regional Anti Corruption Commission Deputy Director Mahbub Alam filed a case with Cox's Bazar Model police station in this regard on January 6 this year.
After examining the records and witnesses, the court handed down the verdict, said Public Prosecutor Abdur Rahim.
