The prosecution has said it will appeal against the verdict in the August 21 grenade attack cases and seek capital punishment for BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman.
“We will sit together, after having received the full copy of the judgment, and move the High Court against the verdict,” Public Prosecutor Mosharraf Hossain Kajal told reporters after the verdict on Wednesday.
Dhaka’s First Speedy Trial tribunal sentenced 19 people, including former state minister Lutfozzaman Babar, to death; and BNP’s acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman, and 18 others, to life imprisonment in two cases.

Eleven others were sentenced to various jail terms.
On why Tarique Rahman was awarded life imprisonment the prosecutor said they cannot comment about that until having received a copy of the verdict.
He said they will appeal for capital punishment for Tarique Rahman, who is now living in London.
Kajal said arrangements will be made to repatriate the fugitive convicts soon.
