The High Court has ordered the trial courts concerned to finish the pending trial proceedings against two murder case accused who have been behind the bars for more than 10 years.
The High Court bench of Justice Obaidul Hasan and Justice Krishna Debnath came up with the order on Tuesday.
Of the prisoners, Kailla Kalam has been languishing in Pabna Jail since April, 2004 and Abdul Khaleque in Natore Jail since October, 2005 in separate murder cases.
Supreme Court Legal Aid Committee's panel lawyer Anich-Ul-Maowa brought the matter of ten such prisoners to the High Court's notice recently.
After a hearing, the High Court issued a suo moto rule in this connection.
