12 university students denied bail again

The students have been arrested cases of vandalism and attacks on police

A Dhaka court has again rejected the bail pleas of 12 private university students in two cases filed over vandalism and attacks on police during movements for safer roads.

Metropolitan Magistrate Laskar Sohel Rana issued the order on Thursday after hearing the bail petitions.

The students are - Shakhawat Hossain Nijhum, Shihab Shahriar, Saber Ahmed Ullash, Azizur Rahman Antar, Rashedul Islam, Md Hasan, Mushfikur Rahman, Redwan Ahmed, Reza Rifat Ahmed, Shimanta Sarker and Iftekher Hossain.

As many as 22 private university students, arrested in these two cases by the Badda and Bhatara police stations, were denied bail repeatedly.

Earlier in the week, the court denied bail to 12 of them.

Students of several private universities clashed with police, early this month, while demonstrating against attacks on students during their movement for safe roads in the city.
