Metropolitan Magistrate Saifuzzaman Ansari rejected their bail petition when they surrendered before the court on Thursday and sent them to jail.
Sub-Inspector Mahamudur Rahman, general recording officer at Dhaka Metropolitan Chief Magistrate Court,confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune on Thursday.
The court issued an arrest warrant on December 8 against the two Chhatra League leaders, Sabbir Hossain and Ashiqur Rahman, for opening fire at a crowd of hawkers when the DSCC officials conducted a drive to evict hawkers from the streets in Gulistan, Dhaka on October 27.
Their actions led to a violent clash between the hawkers and the city corporation officials.
Later, Sub-Inspector Abdul Mannanof Shahbagh police station filed an attempted murder case against 50 people, including Sabbir and Ashiqur.
The two were also expelled from Chhatra League.
