The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has started an investigation into corruption against four people, including former fisheries and livestock minister and lawmaker Md Abdur Rahman.
The three former MPs accused are Iqbalur Rahim (Dinajpur-3), Saifuzzaman Shikhor (Magura-1), and Solaiman Haque Joarder (Chuadanga-1).
ACC Deputy Director and Public Relations Officer Aktarul Islam confirmed the matter on Wednesday.
According to ACC, there are extensive corruption allegations against Md Abdur Rahman, the former minister of Fisheries and Livestock. The accusations include abuse of power and possession of properties by illegal activities.
He allegedly constructed buildings in his name in Madhupur, Faridpur, purchased land in various locations, including Purbachal, and bought savings certificates at Mercantile Bank, City Bank, and Sonali Bank in his name.
The investigation into Iqbalur Rahim focuses on allegations of acquiring a house in Uttara, Dhaka, a flat in Dhanmondi, and several plots of land in Dinajpur.
He is also accused of owning multiple vehicles, with intelligence reports confirming the existence of substantial illegal assets both domestically and internationally.
Saifuzzaman Shikhor is being investigated for allegedly using his position to acquire a large auto-bricks business, a fish farm in Magura, and several trucks.
He is also accused of owning a multi-storied market in Magura and other significant assets.
Solaiman Haque Joarder is facing allegations of corruption and abuse of power, including the construction of a luxurious three-story house in Chuadanga Sadar and the acquisition of numerous vehicles.
The ACC's preliminary investigation has revealed significant illegal assets both in Bangladesh and abroad.
