The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Kabir Ahmed, the former additional chief engineer of the Roads and Highways Department.
ACC Assistant Director Mohammad Jinnatul Islam filed the case at the Integrated District Office, Dhaka-1, on Monday.
The case alleges that the retired engineer acquired assets worth Tk1,890,728 that were disproportionate to his known income.
According to the complaint, after an asset disclosure order was issued to Kabir Ahmed, he submitted his asset statement to the ACC on October 16, 2022. Upon verification and investigation of his asset statement, it was found that he had acquired and held assets worth Tk1,890,728 in contradiction to his known income, committing an offence punishable under the ACC Act.
During the investigation, Kabir Ahmed's son, Asif Mahmud, also known as Asif Hasan, will be investigated for his involvement in the company Global Concept and whether he has any financial ties to it. If any other information about someone else or other assets is found, it will also be documented in the charge sheet.
