The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two separate cases against four people, including former Awami League Chandpur-4 MP Shamsul Haque Bhuiyan, over embezzling money and corruption.
ACC Assistant Director Mohammad Mahatab Uddin filed two cases at the Comilla District Office of the commission on Thursday.
According to the case files, Mohammad Mohebbullah Khan, principal of Gridkalindia Hajera Hasmat Degree College in Faridganj, Chandpur, president of board of directors Shamsul Haque Bhuiyan and lecturer (non-MPO) Belayet Hossain Khan have been accused in a case.
The commission has found that the accused used fake documents in collaboration with each other and embezzled Tk. 1,2,72,172 to show Mohammad Mohebullah Khan as a lecturer holding a permanent position in Gridkalindia Hajera Hasmat Degree College.
The case has been filed against them for committing a punishable offense under Sections 409/420/467/468/471/477 (a) / 109 of the Penal Code and Section 5 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
In another case, the accused are ex-Awami League MP Shamsul Haque Bhuiyan, Belayet Hossain Khan and Kaniz Fatema, lecturer (philosophy) of Gridkalindia Hajera Hasmat Degree College.
According to the case statement, the accused were in collaboration and appointed Kaniz Fatema as lecturer at Gridkalindia Hajera Hasmat Degree College. The commission also found that Fatema did not have the necessary educational qualifications (post-graduate degree) for the post.
After appointing her, the accused reportedly embezzled Tk 31,72,905 in the name of salaries and allowances till June 30, 2019.
