Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Director Fazlul Haque has been suspended for leaking confidential information.
There are other allegations against him regarding illegal monetary transactions and communicating with suspects, said ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya on Tuesday.
On April 26, 2017, Fazlul Haque was made the investigative officer of a suspect in a graft case, Md Abu Yusuf.
After nine months of conducting an independent inquiry of the suspect, exceeding the given time-frame, Fazlul filed a report on February 26, 2018.
On April 26, 2018, the commission gave him recommendations to conduct further inquiries.
Falzul took four more months and published his first information report on August 17, 2018, after 13 months of conducting the basic investigation.
Later, on January 14, 2019, he was caught red-handed by the director general (administration) while handing over two ACC memos to the suspect through a court official.
Fazlul has been suspended for violating ACC’s work ethics, said an official order issued by ACC yesterday.
ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmud told the reporters that people will be suspended if they are found guilty of misdeeds.
“He was recently promoted, but there is no excuse. Whoever comes under our monitoring, we will be suspended,” he added.
According to the ACC chairman, anyone being negligent in their duties will face suspension.
Fazlul Hoque was stationed at ACC headquarters at Segunbagicha in Dhaka.
