British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Gibson has expressed concern over violent incidents during the campaign for the upcoming city corporation elections.
He made the concern in a statement posted on the UK government's official website on Tuesday.
The British High Commissioner stressed that it was the responsibility of all political parties, as well as the law enforcement and election authorities, to ensure the campaign is conducted without violence or intimidation.
He also looked forward to the electorate having a real democratic choice on April 28.
On Monday, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s motorcade came under attack in Dhaka’s Karwan Bazar when she was campaigning for the upcoming city polls. Khaleda got away unhurt but several members of her entourage were injured.
