Masud Rana’s bail plea not heard

Update : 12 Apr 2015, 07:10 PM

A High Court judge yesterday declined to hear the bail petition filed by charge-sheeted accused in Narayanganj seven-murder cases Lt Commander SM Masud Rana, who was sacked from the Rapid Action Battalion for his alleged involvement in the incident.

The sacked Navy official’s petition was on the cause-list of the High Court bench of Justice Quamrul Islam Siddique and Justice Gobinda Chandra Tagore.

But one of the judges cited personal reasons and declined to hear the matter. The judge also asked lawyers concerned to go to another court for hearing, defence lawyer SM Abul Hossain said.

Deputy Attorney General Md Bashir Ullah stood for the state.

Rana, a former top official of RAB 11, filed the bail petition on February 19.

He is one of the 35 people charged for the killings of seven people including ward councillor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker in Narayanganj.
