The nomination paper of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor aspirant BNP chairperson's Adviser Abdul Awal Mintoo has been cancelled.
The Election Commission cancelled his nomination paper on Wednesday morning.
DNCC Returning Officer Shah Alam told the Dhaka Tribune: “Mintoo's nomination has been cancelled as the person who nominated him and the one who seconded his nomination are not the voters of the area from where the BNP leader is contesting.”
Meanwhile, the commission has also cancelled the nomination paper of mayoral candidate Nayem Hossain on charges of being a loan defaulter.
Mintoo's son Tafsir M Awal filed the form at DNCC office on Sunday.
