Journalist's daughter found dead at Dhaka house

The police have recovered the body of late journalist Aktarul Alam's daughter with her hands and feet tied up from her house in the capital's Rampura area on Friday.

The deceased is Fahmida Akhter Nipun, 45.

OC Mabubur Rahman Tarafder of Rampura police station told the Dhaka Tribune: “The domestic help of Nipun's house first noticed the body and informed the locals. Later, the police rushed in and recovered it in the morning.”

“Her hands and feet were tied up with rope and a muffler was wrapped around her neck. We suspect that she might have been strangled.”

The domestic help claimed that she found the doors of the house opened when she entered inside.

The body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy, said the police.

Nipun used to stay alone on the fourth floor of an apartment, Rampura Mahanagar Project. Her husband and son stay abroad.

Aktarul Alam was the former advising editor of the Daily Ittefaq.
