Update : 29 Jan 2015, 06:08 PM

Kazi Rakib’s “Chronology (1975-2015),” a retrospective containing seventy-five works produced over four decades, has gone on show at Galleri Kaya in Uttara.

Using different materials, the artist offers a narrative of 40 years in the life of art. Alongside Rakib, we are all travellers on this journey he invites all of us to participate in.

The exhibit displays his customary use of an array of media including acrylics, oils, watercolours, pencil drawings,  graphic prints and etched glass.

It offers viewers an intimate experience both of art and of art history, through the lens of a single artist’s body of work.

Eminent artist Professor Samarjit Roy Choudhury was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony on January 16 also attended by renowned cultural personality Afzal Hossain.

The vibrant presence of Afsana Mimi and Syed Iqbal on the first day of the exhibit added a note of glamour to the opening. Rakib’s knack for playing with different materials drives the creation of innovative and unique artistic expressions.

In the paintings of Kazi Rakib, women are portrayed in traditional attire, representing simplicity and harmony.

The creator of these delightful works of art, Kazi Rakib, received his BFA from Chattagram Charukala College and has served as one of the founding teachers at Rajshahi Art College.

Rakib has had nine solo exhibitions at home and abroad before “Chronology.”

The exhibition may be viewed until January 30 at Galleri Kaya in Uttara between 11am and 7:30pm.
