A Dhaka court has placed BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy on a two-day fresh remand in a case filed with Turag police station.
Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim passed the order after Sub-inspector Bahauddin Faruki of DB police produced him before the court, seeking a 10-day remand.
The BNP leader was shown arrested in the case filed under Special Power Act on Tuesday.
Three other BNP men were also placed on three-day remand each in the same case.
They are BNP's Turag police station unit convener Atiqur Rahman, party activists Mohiuddin Chowdhury and Mizanur Rahman.
Earlier on Friday, another Dhaka court placed Gayeswar on a 3-day remand when police produced him before the court seeking a 10-day remand in a case filed with Shahbagh police station over Bakshibazar violence.
Police showed him arrested in the case filed over the attack on ruling party’s Netrakona-1 constituency MP Chhabi Biswas, several hours after detectives picked him up from a house at Siddheshwari on Friday morning.
The arrest came a day after he vowed that the 20-party alliance would hold rallies across the country, blocking roads if the government hindered their rally at Bhawal Badre Alam College ground in Gazipur.
