Fire fighters have been frantically trying to rescue a four-year-old boy, who fell into a 600-ft deep abandoned water pump pipe Shahjahanpur Railway Colony area in the Capital.
However, the attempts to rescue the child using rope have been failed several times and then the fire service rescuers pulled out the pipe from the hole which was installed for the water pump.
Now, they are using a camera to figure out the trapped boy.
Fire service official Major Shakil Nawaz said the child, Jihad, fell into the deep hole at Shahjahanpur Railway Colony area while playing with his friends on Friday afternoon.
The fire service and civil defence has been trying to rescue the child since 3:30pm.
The fire service official said the hole is 400-ft deep. Later, he said it is 600-ft deep.
"We are facing problem to rescue the child as the hole is too narrow," said Major Shakil.
He said the hole was dug by the railways authorities for setting up a water pump for the colony people. "But it was left abandoned as dirty water was coming out from the pump."
According to fire service officials, the boy is still alive as they heard him screaming. The child is being provided oxygen and food.
Curious people thronged to the site hampering the rescue operation. Police and fire service officials have been trying to clear the area.
Urging all to pray for his son, Jihad's father Nasir Uddin hoped that the auhoroties would bring out his son alive from the hole.
The operation was going on till updating the report at 3:44am Saturday.
