Police have charged baton on the Dhaka University admission aspirants to disperse them from Shahbagh intersection.
The law enforcers also used water cannons to remove the protesting students as they tried to block the road around 1:45pm on Sunday.
Meanwhile, three students were injured in the scuffle with the police. They have been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Some 100 to 150 students gathered in front of Raju Monument and brought out a procession from the area around 11am to submit a memorandum to the prime minister. Police barred them when they reached Shahbagh intersection around 11:30am.
However, police allowed six students to submit the memorandum.
Later, the students took position at Shahbagh intersection protesting the police move.
Shahbagh police station Officer-in-Charge Shirajul Islam said: “Bhutan's prime minister is in Bangladesh and many VIPs are using the road [Shahbagh road]. We used water cannons to disperse them when they tried to block the road,” he said.
The students have been on protest for more than a month seeking reinstatement of the second time admission test facility.
On October 14, the university authorities decided not to allow any admission seeker to appear in its admission tests for first year honours courses more than once.
