Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has put emphasis on establishing connectivity between Bangladesh and Bhutan to further boost bilateral trade and business.
The premier made the opinion when Bhutanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Pema Choden paid a courtesy call on her at her office on Wednesday morning.
"We must establish connectivity to further increase bilateral trade and business," she said.
She said the infrastructure is now ready on both sides and there is a need for transit through India to establish this connectivity.
After the meeting, PM's Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhuri briefed reporters.
The prime minister once again said Bhutan could use Bangladesh's sea and airports for the purpose of trade and business.
She called upon the Bhutanese government to import vegetables from Bangladesh to meet their domestic demand.
In this connection, she mentioned that Bhutan imports Bangladeshi readymade garments at a larger volume every year.
Sheikh Hasina recalled invaluable contribution of the Bhutanese King and their people to Bangladesh's War of Liberation.
The Bhutanese ambassador apprised Sheikh Hasina of the visit of the Bhutanese Prime Minister to Bangladesh which is going to take place in the first week of December.
She also conveyed the Bhutanese King and the Premier's greetings to the Bangladesh Prime Minister.
