Joy urges youths to join Young Bangla

 Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, yesterday inaugurated a national platform which aims to unlock the potentials of the country’s young generation by providing them with necessary opportunities and recognising their talents and achievements.

On behalf of other convening organisations, the Centre for Research and Information (CRI) launched the platform named Young Bangla to represent the inclusive voices of the youth to achieve “Vision 2021”.

On the occasion, the CRI organised a programme at the capital’s Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel, Dhaka.

Law maker Nahim Razzaq was made the convener of the platform which is sponsored by eight leading corporate houses in the country.

Sabbir Shams, executive director of CRI, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, state minister for ICT, among others, were present on the occasion. 

Later, Joy, who advises her mother PM Sheikh Hasina on ICT issues, visited the website of the Young Bangla and registered him as its member.

The CRI has been working on the idea of establishing the platform for long time. The Awami League want to ensure the country’s development not only for today,  but for the future also, Joy said. 

Describing the youth as the country’s future, he said: “The young people should be involved in the development process as they are the future of the country.”

The young people can join the platform and put their contribution in achieving the  ‘Vision 2021’, he added. 

Only five to six years ago, the country’s about four crore young people were unemployed. But many of them are now employed. The country is moving forward in every sectors, Joy said. 

“We have provided various technical training to around 50,000 young people in the country,” he said. 

“The main aim of the platform should be creating new job opportunities for the youths. In order to reach our goal, the government is introducing a number of internship programmes under different ministries,” he added.

Five ministries—Ministry Of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Affairs, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Social Welfare and the Ministry of Weman and Children Affairs are involved with the platform, Joy said.

More than 200 youth organisations from 64 districts have joined as partner organisations of the platform.
