The preliminary examination of the 35th BCS will be held on February 6.
Bangladesh Public Service Commission issued a press release in this regard on Thursday.
In the press release, PSC states it mentioned in the circular that the preliminary examination of the 35th BCS might be held in the second half of December.
Taking consideration of the availability of examination hall and ensuring proper exam management for the highest number of candidates, the commission has taken the decision to hold the exam on February 6, it reads.
On September 23, the BPSC issued the circular for the 35th preliminary examination of BCS.
A total of 244,107 candidates have applied for participating in the 35th BCS examination against 1803 vacant posts.
The number of applicants was 221,575 in the 34th BCS examination.
The 35th BCS examination will be held under the new rules recently formulated by the public administration ministry.
Under the new rules, the marks for multiple-choice questions (MCQ) in the BCS preliminary examination were increased to 200 from 100 and the duration from one hour to two.
The minimum pass mark for viva will be 50%, instead of the existing 40%; the pass mark for the written test will remain the same at 50%.
The rule reads that a candidate with less than 30% marks in the written exam, instead of the existing 25%, would be considered to have received no number.
