Actress and model Hasin Roushan entered the media world after she won the Veet-Channel i Super Model pageant. A self-admitted Facebook addict, Hasin talked about different aspects of her personal life in an interview with Dhaka Tribune.
Before Facebook, what kept you occupied for most of the time?
It was phone. Before stepping in the world of showbiz, I used to prank-call unknown people. If a woman answered the call, I would say, “Is X’s father is there?” or “The rice bucket is empty. Bring some green leafy vegetables and grain along with rice from the shop.” If it was a boy, I would tell him to come at a certain place with flowers, and then we, my friends and I, would go to the place to check if he really came. Sometimes I would ask three or four boys simultaneously to come but I never showed up. I have done this prank numerous times. (Laughs)
The other day you said, in a Facebook status, “To me, domesticity is a plaything.” How so?
My parents are very conservative. They set certain rules for me, like I have to return home early and sit down to study in the evening. But after marriage everything has changed. I got absolute freedom. Now my family consists of only two people, my husband and me. My husband is busy with his own work while I am with mine; no one is here to regulate me. When at home, I do things in my own way, and it’s fun. So, my domestic life has turned a plaything for me.
Tell us more about your relationship with your husband
It is one thing to live for yourself and another to live with someone else. My husband and I are comfortable together, and we spend a lot of quality times together. Sometimes we quarrel.
How many times a week do you fight?
No, we don’t fight at all. It could be called one-sided fight. When I get angry I shout at him but he doesn’t reply. The same thing happens when he gets angry. I remain silent then.
You got married at a time when, many might say, your priority should have been your career.
To be frank, being happy is the single-most important goal of my life. I said earlier that my family was conservative as they did not give me permission to work in the media. Now I have freedom to work.
What do you think is your best work yet?
The drama titled “Jui Phul Pujari and Guti Koyek Pipra.” Written and directed by Antu Azad, it is yet to be aired.
How many TV plays of yours are in the pipeline?
I have worked in five plays for this Eid.
When you are going to act in a film?
First, I have to be sure of my capability to attract the audience to the theatres, then maybe I will sign for a film.
