Pipeline fixed, gas supply restarts in Tangail

A leakage in the pipe-line under river Pungli in Kalihati has been fixed and gas supply restarted after some 8 hours of its suspension. The leakage caused suspension of gas transmission in many areas of the district since early Wednesday. Assistant Manager (Revenue) of Titas Gas Zonal Marketing Office Khandakar Monjur Rahman said the gas supply has been resumed at 6:30pm that was cut off at 9am. Earlier, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abu Nasar Uddin said one of the joints in the pipeline might have got broken and caused the leakage. The supply has been kept suspended to avert any accidents. The locals notified the fire service about the leakage early in the morning after they had noticed water shooting up in the river. Residents of the nearby areas are still in panic.
