Experts from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) have certified the multi-storey Mizan Tower at the capital’s Kalyanpur to be risk free.
Earliar on Thursday, the Rajdhani Unyan Kartripakkha had announced it risky following two explosions inside its basement.
Meanwhile, the residences of the 12-storey building have started entering their flats immediate after the announcement.
All the residents in the 90 flats of the building and staffers of different offices and business establishments housed in the building had been evacuated on Wednesday evening immediately after an explosion occurred inside the basement of the building caused from stagnant gas in the sewerage pipeline.
Meanwhile, a further explosion took place on Thursday evening for the same reason prompting the Rajuk authorities to request the Buet experts for assessing the structural condition of the building.
Later, Rajuk formed a five-member committee to probe the explosion incidents.
Besides, police had sealed off the building and also had kept the area cordoned off so that no one could enter the building as part of cautionary measures.
Abdul Mannan, a member (Planning) of the Rajuk said: “Two experts of the Buet -- professors Fakrul Amin and Shafiul Bari of Civil Engineering department -- have examined the building during their visits on Friday morning and afternoon.”
Later the experts opined that the explosions did not cause any structural damages to the building.
The Rajuk member also said the Buet experts have also assured that there was no risk for its dwellers to reside in the building.
“We have conveyed the Buet experts’ opinion to police regarding the condition of the building and also asked them for allowing its residents to enter the building,” he added.
Imtiyaz Ahmed, deputy commissioner of police in Mirpur Division, told the Dhaka Tribune that they withdrew the restriction on the residents to enter into the building.
“The residents already started entering their own residential flats since the evening,” he said.
