Mithila makes a comeback

Update : 20 May 2014, 07:01 PM

Rafiath Rashid Mithila, famed for her spontaneous acting and infectious smile, is back in the entertainment industry after a break of almost two years.

Mithila is a well known model and established herself in the industry by appearing  in the TVCs of Meril, Bajaj, Close-up and Aktel. She debuted as an actor on the small screen through “Shunechhen Ekjon Radio Jockyr Golpo,” and was immediately welcomed by the audience.

Recently, Dhaka Tribune interviewed Mithila about her recent and future ventures:

How does it feel to be back in front of the camera?

Obviously, it feels great. I was busy with my family; Tahsan and my one year-old daughter. I have acted in Ashfaq Nipun’s TV play “Land Phoner Dingulite Prem,” But this time I plan to work on a regular basis. On the other hand, I don’t want to be involved with too many projects at a time.

Why not?

I am working as a senior manager for the Education Programme at BRAC International. I remain extremely busy with office work. I also want to spend an ample amount of time  with my family.

Tell us about your recent TV play

I have worked in Redwan Rony’s “Ayna Mohole Ayna” opposite Partha Barua and Moutushi. I have worked with Rony and Partha before. It was fun to work with those with whom I already have a good understanding. On the other hand, working with Moutushi for the first time was also very interesting. To sum it up, it was a really enjoyable experience.

Any plans for your birthday on May 25?

No, I don’t have any yet. I feel this is not an age to celebrate birthdays. Now, I have a daughter and she is the centre of all my celebrations. On April 30, it was her first birthday and we celebrated with a lot of festivities.

Do you have any plans of working on the silver screen?

Yes, I want to work on the silver screen as well. However, I am waiting for a good script, and a challenging role. If something like that pops up, I will surely take leave from my official duties to work on it.

What about your singing career?

I did quite a few duets with Tahsan in a few albums. I also wrote lyrics for Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s “Third Person Singular Number” and lent my voice to one of the playbacks of the film. Singing to me has always been a hobby, I never wanted to take it up as a profession.
