Grameenphone, partnering with two major internet service providers Agni Systems Ltd and ADN Telecom Limited yesterday launched fixed wi-max internet services brand name ‘go broadband’ in Dhaka and Chittagong.
They would next go to Sylhet and rest of the country. All the operators declared their launching officially yesterday in Dhaka.
Mohammad Abdus Salam, managing director of Agni Systems Ltd, Asif Mahmood, anaging director & Chairman of ADN Telecom Ltd and Emdadul Haque, deputy director (Technology) of Grameenphone jointly launched the services.
The two ISP’s will use Grameenphone’s network to provide service to the customers, while GP’s marketing and distribution channel will be used to market the product. GP will also provide customer service.
Mohammad Abdus Salam informed the service will be suitable for the big screen users in homes and offices who need more than 20GB to 30GB bandwidths, which can be a challenge for the mobile operators even with 3G services.

He said, as they are using Grameenphone’s infrastructure they will share revenues with them, but were not willing to disclose the ratio. Initially, the customers will be able to use unlimited internet at up to 1mbps speed starting at TK4,232 while economy packs like 512kpbs 3GB pack at TK550 are also available. The device price is TK2,450.

Two other ISPs – Bangladesh internet exchange limited (BIEL) and New Generation Graphics Limited (NGGL) – jointly deliver the same services since 2011 in Dhaka, in the name of OLLO.
